This rare, old Piedmotese dialect expression was used by locals to show their surprise when they came across something out-of-the-expected. For many years the Roero has been one of the very best wine-growing areas in Piedmont, on account of its ability to produce outstanding white wines and fine reds. The price of vines here has always been Arneis, which is best-know as a fine variety for making excellent early-drinking white wines. Tamardě, which is the result of the company’s commitment to selecting the best of the production in the Roero, shows that Arneis can also be used to produce wines that are capable of taking on the challenge of improvement over time, something which is unknown to most.

| Information About Monchiero Carbone |
| Monchiero Carbone’s roots go back to the first years of this century, when Clotilde Valente, the maternal grandmother of the Monchiero branch of the family, began producing fine wines after purchasing the Monbirone vineyards with her dowry. She tended her vines with love and determination through two wars and various family misfortunes until the ‘60s, concentrating all her efforts on making wines of great quality intended – unusually at that time – for ageing. This singular production has been developed over the last decade by having renovation work carried out on the old cellars in via Santo Stefano, and then selecting the best wine-growing locations in the Roero and subsequently submitting only grapes of the highest quality to appropriate ageing methods. Today our production features some of the finest wines in the Roero. |
