This rare, old Piedmotese dialect expression was used by locals to show their surprise when they came across something out-of-the-expected. For many years the Roero has been one of the very best wine-growing areas in Piedmont, on account of its ability to produce outstanding white wines and fine reds. The price of vines here has always been Arneis, which is best-know as a fine variety for making excellent early-drinking white wines. Tamardì, which is the result of the company’s commitment to selecting the best of the production in the Roero, shows that Arneis can also be used to produce wines that are capable of taking on the challenge of improvement over time, something which is unknown to most.
